I received my 99 sail panels and HKS SSQV BOV yesterday, planning to install them both over the weekend as well as my true black dash that has been sitting in my garage for months.
Between today and yesterday, I did a little bit of exterior modification.
Installed 99 rear garnish.
Prepped rear bumper license plate area for paint because the previous owner painted it white for some reason.
Paint done, license plate back on. So much happier with it.
Bottom lip of the front bumper platidipped black. I might do a little more with that, I love the look but not sure I am completely happy with my paint work lol.
ALSO, yesterday I went up to the old Fabberge shop and got a sweet deal on some TD05 manifolds! The rear o2 housing needs modified slightly to mate with the down pipe from what I was shown while I was there, but thankfully I know people who can fix it at almost no cost to me.
Since I got such a sweet deal on TD05 manifolds, I’ve decided that I am changing the direction of my build. I will be going for TD05 BIG 16Gs, 1000cc injectors, FuelLab AFPR and a bigger fuel pump for E85. Chris Hill made 715awhp on this kind of set up on E95, so I figure 600-650awhp should be pretty easy to achieve on E85. I’ve sold off my 15Gs and 680cc injectors and picked up a set of 1000cc injectors, a FuelLab AFPR and the manifolds, I will pick up the 16Gs after I finish building my new block and put it all in together.
I ordered some more stuff today, the last of the exterior modifications that the car will receive until paint. I ordered 99 sail panels as well as the 99 rear garnish. My glass headlights are having the insert painted black currently, then I’ll be installing those with Morimoto halos in them.
Over the past weekend, I installed an OBX downpipe with precat eliminators and main cat test pipe to replace my IPS downpipe one that I found out was leaking. Car seems to run a little quieter but I didn’t notice any performance gain or loss with the change. Over the next couple of week, I plan to have a new AFPR to install as well as my 680cc injectors that I’ve been sitting on for awhile finally. I also have a CXRacing oil cooler with SS lines that I’m planning to install soon as well.
Yesterday I finished getting my Walbro 255 fuel pump installed. It was a pain to do because I think the previous owner but some lock tight or something in the part where the hose goes from the fuel hat.
Luckily I had a spare fuel hat, I was expecting this wouldn’t be as easy as it looked and everything loves to break on this thing when I take it apart. The car is idling higher after the install, so I will have to adjust the idle. I’m planning to hotwire the fuel pump soon since I have the kit for it. I am getting my 680cc injectors flow balanced this week then I’ll be installing those next, hopefully along with an AEM FPR if I can get one by then.
I bought a set of glass headlights for a good price since they from a yellow 94 3000GT. My intention is to paint the insert black and put in some Morimoto halos. I have the halos already, now I just have to take them apart and get to working on it. I may have them in next weekend. I really like the white lexans that I have, but the black would look really nice with my carbon fiber hood I think.
I ordered an FIAV Bypass kit from Ninja Performance and installed it today. Definitely a good upgrade for someone who is constantly taking off their plenum like me (learning how to tune ends up resulting in needing new spark plugs lol.)
If anyone else buys this, I highly recommend buying it the way I did. I got the FIAV gasket and new screws with mine. You’re going to want new screws, I nearly destroyed the screws in mine trying to take them out, suckers were in there very tight.
I also removed my larger Krank Vent to see if that will help how the car is running. I’ll find out in the coming days. I reset my ECU and put all my MAFT dials back to zero (except AUX 8, BASE 2 as instructions said to do.) I already had to put the IDLE to 4 on the MAFT just to make it stay running and to make the idle stop bouncing, but it seems to idle smooth at about 900 RPMS now. I would say this is mostly thanks to that FIAV bypass because mine must have been bad, it had been creating a leak causing my idle issues for quite some time now.
Special thanks goes out to Ninja Performance once again for making such awesome products at affordable prices.
My 92 to 98 front end conversion is complete! I also got a VIS carbon fiber hood that I threw on too. Came out pretty good, I still have to align the hood a little better and maybe play around with the brackets I made for my headlights to bolt in, but over all I am pretty happy with the outcome.
Just wanted to give a special thanks to Chris Hill and Ninja Performance. I’ve been buying a good bit of parts from them over the past couple years and their customer service is simply unrivaled. I don’t think anyone knows these cars as well as Chris and I’m very thankful that he has been such a help providing great parts at good prices.
If anyone needs parts, they’re always my first stop.
I received my 15G twin turbos and 680cc fuel injectors today. Not sure yet when they’ll get installed but I’m excited to have received them.
